A craigslist find for 400 bucks. Owner said it'd sat for a couple of years. His wife had ridden it as a school commuter before that. I didn't get a chance to take pics of it until it was already apart. I decided to take it to someone with more tools and experience than I to get it running.

The tank was pretty rusty and I told Gary, my mechanic friend, that I'd clean it out as I only intended to do a "rattle can restoration", initially.

Two days later, he calls, saying he found 2 brand new tanks in VA for $220. That ended my "rattle can" idea. Now, we're going to get serious. After digging in for a short while, he got it running. I even watched as he pushed down on the kick start with his hand Shocked Fired right up! All lights and electronics worked, too! So here's where we're at, now.

Notice the mud dauber cooling system Wink

The new Tank! Derby green metallic, YES!

So, ebay netted me some new fork ears, turn sigs, and such. And, Partsfish provides the rest. I can't believe how much old stuff they still have. Got two new air filters in a week. Sorry for the plug. It's just amazing that some of this stuff is still available. So, metals and covers are off to paint. Some cables and a throttle sleeve are yet to come. Hopefully that'll be it, for now. Alot of the non essentials will have to wait until I'm more solvent. I'll keep you posted................

I apologize for just having before and after pics and no inbetween. But, just to show that it can be done.........

Still a bunch of tidbits to take care of. But after a second over bore, new pistons, speedo, cables, tires, mikunis, plastics, paint, fork seals, filters, points ...I'm outta breath. You get the idea. I've got way more into it than I'll ever get out, monetarily speaking. As for fun, well that's another story.
